One of the most memorable events Fuelled Events has had the pleasure to host, and a privilege to enjoy access to one of the most legendary creative addresses in the world.
With only a short lead-time, Fuelled were tasked with sourcing accommodation, meeting space and more importantly an inspiring and memorable team building event in London. Despite the busy high season and scanning the city, we secured accommodation and meeting space at the 5* boutique Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel – contemporary cool luxury…the perfect location. And with a welcome party planned for the first night at Richard Branson’s Kensington Roof Gardens, we were off to a flying start.
However, the absolute highlight (despite battling for space with one of the Hollywood studios who has secured first option to record a film score) was confirming exclusive access for Abbey Road Studios. And it was all to be kept top secret.
On the night, as guests disembarked coaches at a very familiar zebra crossing and made their way up the famous steps and through the maze of corridors of this deceptively large space, the walls covered in framed pictures of every great legendary recording artist to work here, the buzz and excitement started to grow.
Welcome drinks were served in Studio 2 (the most famous of the three studios where The Beatles recorded 190 songs and also Pink Floyd recorded the Dark Side of the Moon) and laid out around the studio were original pieces of recording equipment and instruments used over the years – the Lady Madonna piano, the mixing console used by Pink Floyd – whilst guests has open access to visit the famous control room where the magic happens and talk to the engineers.
Guests were then invited into the largest of the studios, Studio 1, for what they believed to be the start of their Gala Dinner. Actually it was the start of a 90 minute recording session professional co-ordinated by the Studios team of musical directors, engineers and vocal coaches. Whether they were confident singers or not, everyone entered into the spirit of this unique opportunity and a fun and uplifting rendition of ‘Here Comes the Sun’ was expertly mixed and recorded on a bespoke gift CD.
Dinner was then served in Studio 1 by a superb catering team and despite the drinks most certainly flowing, each and every guest to this day tell us that they will never forget the special time they visited Abbey Road Studios. Mission accomplished!
